The Grunge Edit: Trends You Oughta Know

The Grunge Edit: Trends You Oughta Know

This season we’re taking a new approach to grunge. High-rise denim has never been more flattering, leather jackets are more prominent than ever and bodysuits are a must-have.

The grunge trend has taken on many different looks over the years. The trend emerged in the mid-1980s and exploded in the early ‘90s. Bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam come to mind, while singer and grunge muse Courtney Love’s feminine but dark style continues to inspire the girly grunge trend. From the shredded jeans, oversized plaid shirts and messy hair of the past, to this year’s more sleek take on the look—grunge is a trend that’s here to stay.

Getting that cool grunge vibe takes a few key items. Go for a faux leather jacket with metal hardware, distressed or faded high-waisted denim, then finish the look with a printed or sheer lace bodysuit. We’ll show you how to rock ‘em for your most stylish school year yet. Scroll down to see our go-to look.

The Leather Jacket

The Grunge Edit: Jackets

We added lots of metal hardware, removable belts and the softest faux leather material for this year’s essential jacket. The layer is perfect for #datenight and a must for a night out with friends. Style tip: wear it over your shoulders for an effortless, trendy look.

High-Waisted Denim

The Grunge Edit: High Waitsed Jeans

So many new fits, feels and washes! Go for the high-rise jeans that make you feel more confident than ever. This year we’re switching it up with lighter washes, more distressing and even softer denim. Style tip: Bodysuits pair perfectly with high-waisted denim and take away that whole “to tuck or untuck” situation.

The Bodysuit

The Grunge Edit: Bodysuits

Bodysuits are newcomers to what we consider to be “must-have” items. Once a night-out-only top, is now a wear-everywhere piece that can be dressed up, down and everything in between. We love sheer and lace bodysuits for dressier occasions and solid V-neck bodysuits for everyday wear. Style tip: Pair pretty bralettes with sheer or lace-up bodysuits for an edgy layered look.
